Castle Lower Level

LOWER LEVEL TOUR:
You enter the lower level from outside over a wooden drawbridge that crosses a small moat. Pass through portucullis style gates into the exterior stone entry, then through French doors to the main Entry. The lower level offers higher than normal 8'-9" ceilings throughout. The woodwork consists of 6" stained baseboards and 4" door and ceiling trim throughout. Doors are six-panel pine, stained to match the woodwork. All bi-fold closet doors (six sets) are louvered pine, and stained to match. Most walls have been faux finished by hand in a Venetian Plaster technique. The four main rooms each have ceiling fans with lights. Unlike castles of old, our castle has heat/AC, and has electricity and running water. Square feet of lower level is about 1500.

ENTRY: (6'-6"x12')
The Entry is tiled in hand-made cementitious tile. From here you have access to the Storage Room, Home Theater, stairs to the second level, hallway to the Turret, and hallway to the (future) full bath, Utility Room, Library and a second entrance to the Family Room.

TURRET: (15'-3"x15'-6")
A hallway leads from the Entry through an arched doorway to the Turret, and is paved with the same hand-made tile as the Entry. It passes by three six-foot+ storage closets prior to reaching the Turret. Here you will find a Powder Room, Laundry Closet, and sufficient room to build a good-sized Pub Bar or summer kitchen. Both the Turret and Powder Room continue with the same hand-made floor tile.

FAMILY ROOM: (13'-9"x21')
From the Turret, you pass through a rounded archway into the Family Room. The floor is tiled in a 16" ceramic tile that resembles a subtle brown veined, white marble. There is a corner wood fireplace that is high-efficiency electric with blower. There's a light fixture designed for use over a billiard table at one end of the room, but that can easily be replaced with another fan or ceiling light.

HOME THEATER: (10'-6"x23'-6")
The Home Theater is set up with a combined stage and custom media center, complete with drawers and space for all audio and video equipment. The custom wooden media unit will handle up to a 65" HD TV. Access to all controls can be from the rear of the stage. It was designed to facilitate an electric controlled stage curtain. The room is pre-wired for a surround sound system with speaker hook-ups in place. The walls, raised floors, and ceiling are insulated to help control sound bounce and collateral loss. There are step lights built into the two raised seating levels, which were designed to have three rows of four theater seats. The new owner may want to install three rows of three, large, easy-chair-style seating. Seating has not been installed and will be the responsibility of the new owners. Wall to wall carpet is to be installed after soon.

LIBRARY: (9'-9"x12'-4") (Could be a bedroom, den, or dungeon)
This room can be used as another guest bedroom or a den instead of a library. There is a six-foot closet at one end of the room. Carpet has not yet been installed, but will be soon. There is still time to pick your colors.

FULL BATH: (6'x8') (Future)
The proposed lower level full bath is studded in, but not finished. Completion of the room is to be done by the purchaser. Electric is in, and plumbing is accessible directly through the wall in the Utility Room. The planned layout calls for a toilet, sink, and full bathtub, as well as a linen closet.

UTILITY ROOM: (6'-4"x8'-3")
Houses heating/AC unit and water heater. There is additional room for storage items as well.

STORAGE ROOM: (7'x8'-6") (Future access from main castle)
Can be used for storage, and was designed to be used as a hallway access with closet from main castle once built.
Tri-level Home Theater prewired for surround sound.          Entry light and Venetian plastered walls.                   View through portucullis from inside-out.
